Potts Point Pied-à-terre

This renovation reimagines a classic Art Deco apartment in Potts Point, restoring its 1930s elegance while introducing a refined contemporary sensibility.

Years of incremental changes had diminished much of the apartment’s original character. The design intent was restorative—reinstating period proportion and detail while improving functionality for contemporary living. Newly introduced cornices, carefully profiled to suit the era, re-establish depth and architectural rhythm throughout.

A compact kitchen is resolved through efficient planning and curved joinery that references Deco geometry, maximising function within a modest footprint. In the dressing room, custom timber veneer cabinetry with brushed brass accents brings warmth and order, with tailored storage designed to make daily routines seamless.

In the bathroom, handmade glazed ceramic tiles are paired with honed travertine to create a rich yet restrained textural balance, where subtle tonal variation adds depth and softness to the space.

The result is a cohesive interior that feels authentic to its setting—elegant, functional and quietly timeless.
